Thank you very much for taking active participation in the discussion forum. You are one of the few persons from insurer's side who are taking active participation in the forum This is with reference to your statement- " Of course conveyance and photograph charges on notional basis is being paid seperately surveyors which in our opinion is sufficient if taken into consideration the actuals".
I beg to differ with your statement mentioned above.
Photograph charges- Expenses incured for photographs are already explained. There might be slight difference of opinion on the costs considered. But more or less the actual cost encured is same.
For Conveyance charges - I request you to go through the following points-
1. The cities and their municipal limits have expanded considerably and most workshops, garages and industries have shifted to the outskirts. The city limits of most A class cities from one end to the other are spanning about 40 - 50 kms and the urban agglomeration limits is about 70 – 80 km end to end. The distance between 2 points end to end in metro cities is about 60 kms. And agglomeration limits of metro cities are about 100 kms. from one end to another.
2.The time spent on commuting from point to point is much higher due to heavy traffic and the distance involved. This is also increasing the fuel consumption and yielding low mileage per liter fuel consumed, increased maintenance costs, accident repairs and breakdowns, etc.
3.Now the cost of petrol has almost increased by 250 % as compared to the cost of petrol in 2003. The rise in the fuel cost has also increased the running and maintenance cost of the vehicle.
4.The cost of the new car, EMI’s, road tax, maintenance, spare parts, tyres, batteries, insurance, etc. have all gone up by 200 to 300 % from 2003 to 2011.
5.In hilly areas the consumption of fuel is almost double and the average speed is less.
6. Day by day the purchase cost of the new vehicles are increasing and resale prices of the used vehicles have drastically dropped.
If we consider the above points; personally i am of the opinion that the cost paid to the surveyor is very less and needs to be revised atleast to 23 % of the cost of the petrol & Local conveyance should be increased atleast 2.5 times.
I would like to bring your attension to Circular- F. No- 19030/3/2008 E.IV; of Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India dated 23/09/2008. In the said circular it is mentioned that the government officer are paid the milage allowance as- By own car - Rs.16/- per Km & Rs. 8/- per Km for Scooter.If the said is applicable to govt. officers then why not to surveyors?
