Procedure of vehicle theft claim

My motor Cycle was stolen on 25/07/2011 and so far FIR is not lodged by the police. However I am following the police regularly. Then I approached the insurance company. Some person in the company told me to come with FIR copy. If the FIR is delayed, will there be any problem in claim; and what is the procedure and documents required of my theft claim ?
